Acceptable use and AI disclosure

MangaMade is for telling your own stories. Two rules follow from that: the characters and worlds you draw must be yours, and your comics must not harm real people. The rest of this policy spells out those two rules.

Do not use MangaMade to create:

• Sexual content involving minors, or any sexualised depiction of a character who is or appears to be under 18. This is absolute: the account is suspended.
• Explicit sexual content, whatever the age rating of the series.
• Real, identifiable people, including celebrities and public figures, as characters.
• Characters, franchises, logos or trademarks that belong to someone else.
• Hate and harassment targeting people or groups for who they are.
• Content that promotes terrorism, or gives instructions for self-harm, weapons or other serious harm.
• Anything that is illegal where you create or publish it.

Violence and gore are allowed in series rated teen or mature, within the limits of the image providers' own policies.

MangaMade draws original characters. Describe your own cast; do not name, describe or upload characters from other people's series, and do not ask for the style of a named artist or studio. The style presets describe a look in generic words, never whose look it is.

Reference art you upload must be your own work or art you have the right to use. Photos of real people are not accepted as character references.

Look-alike descriptions can slip past automated checks. The responsibility stays with you, and a justified report leads to takedown.

The panel art in a MangaMade chapter is generated with AI. When you publish it, say so.

• Credit the art honestly in your series description or credits page, for example: "Story and lettering by [your name]; art generated with AI in MangaMade."
• Use the platform's own AI-content label or setting when you upload, and follow its rules on AI-generated work.
• When you submit to a publisher, a contest or a printer, tell them how the pages were made; many ask.
• Never present generated pages as hand-drawn, or as the work of a named artist.
• Do not remove or crop out the trial watermark; upgrade the plan instead.

Every series, cast and chapter script is screened before a plan is accepted and before any credit is reserved, and a refusal names the category and the line that triggered it. Screening is automated and imperfect: it blocks some acceptable writing and can miss a violation, and it never replaces your own judgement.

Image providers apply their own content policies too. A panel a provider refuses fails on its own, with the reason shown, and returns its credit.

We may review the content of a workspace when we investigate abuse, a rights holder's complaint or a legal request.

You are responsible for what you publish: the rights in your story and your reference art, the age rating you choose, the AI disclosure, and the rules of the platforms, publishers and countries you publish in. MangaMade is a creation tool, not a publisher and not a rights clearance service.

If you see a comic made with MangaMade that breaks this policy, including one that copies your characters or artwork, write to abuse@mangamade.com with a link or a copy. We look into every report, and we take down content we host, such as a shared chapter, when the report is justified.

Depending on what we find, we may refuse a generation, remove content, revoke a share link, suspend a workspace, or close an account. Sexual content involving minors and other serious cases are reported to the competent authorities.

Credits spent on content we remove for a policy breach are not refunded.
